Visiting Angels is a group of professionals that provide home care for the elderly. Caregivers help older adults live comfortably, independently, and safely in their own homes. The Lorain County group contacted OSU Extension in Lorain County to provide a program on the benefits of Nature to Health.
The In-Service took place at Miller Nature Preserve, a Lorain County Metroparks. The program was led by Thomas Becker, Lorain County Extension ANR Educator and Thomas deHaas, OSU Erie County Extension Educator.
The focus was on the benefits of plants to personal health and wellbeing.
Miller Preserve was a great location.
The group started in the greenhouse and toured the succulents, tropical plants, and orchid collections.
Thomas Becker led the tour outside with a focus on pollinators and monarch butterflies.
The main take away for the group was that nature can help heal and improve the outlook and mood of their clients.
