With the days getting cooler, people begin to think about cutting wood for the winter. Fall is a wonderful time but a dangerous time for chain saws. One local company seemed to be doing things right when it came to safety.
Outside the Erie County Extension office, Buckeye Tree and Crane, a local tree care company in Sandusky seemed to be doing many things right with regards to worker safety.
Individual workers were wearing ear and eye protection, helmets, and chapps.
Trees were being trimmed using a bucket truck.
and lift truck with wide outriggers.
Brush was being collected by a skid steer and fed into a chipper.

In good fun, one of my colleagues sent me the following picture:
Although it was funny at the time, it reminded me of how dangerous arboriculture can be.
You can find International Society of Arboriculture arborists here:

So, if you’re getting ready to cut wood or trim trees, be safe and careful, so you can be around to trim or cut another day.
