Spotted Lanternfly Walk-About for Green Industry Professionals

Published on

You have heard about the spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula), and maybe even attended a presentation about this invasive insect pest. But have you experienced it? Have you seen the insect in the field?

On Monday, March 6, 2023, OSU Extension will be hosting a SLF Walk-About for Green Industry Professionals. This interactive hands-on scouting will be held at an active SLF infestation site in NE Ohio. Plans are to repeat similar programs throughout the season to scout for nymphs and adults later this summer.

Participants will learn how to train your eyes to scout for SLF egg masses in the field; learn about current protocol for reporting suspect SLF; practice using the Great Lakes Early Detection Network (GLEDN) App; learn how to deploy traps used for monitoring; and hear about the latest SLF updates.

The program is free, but participants are asked to RSVP. Please RSVP by emailing Ashley Kulhanek at kulhanek.5@osu.edu or by calling 330-725-4911 to reserve your spot.

Space is limited, and carpooling is suggested when possible.
