The multi-state bulletin, Insecticide Options for Protecting Ash Trees from Emerald Ash Borer, has recently been updated and the Third Edition is available on the emeraldashborer.info website as a PDF.

The bulletin addresses using insecticides to control EAB while discussing different options and the effectiveness of those options. While Ohio has lost hundreds of thousands of ash trees in the path of EAB, many have opted to treat and protect trees from this invasive species. It is important to mention that insecticides will not bring a dead ash tree back to life, or provide protection to a tree that still shows minimal life, but is already heavily infested. This updated bulletin should be a resource for those that have been treating their ash trees and successfully have kept them healthy and thriving as EAB has made Ohio home as it migrates to greener pastures where ash trees are abundant and will be the diet of future generations of EAB.

The bulletin is a great educational resource that answers some frequently asked questions including:

  • What options do I have for treating my ash trees?
  • Will insecticides be effective if my tree is already infested?
  • When is the best time to treat?
  • What are the environmental impacts of systemic insecticides used to protect ash trees from EAB?

Check out this bulletin and stay up-to-date on the latest research on insecticide options for controlling EAB.
