“Sometimes I lie awake at night, and ask, 'Where have I gone wrong?' Then a voice says to me, 'This is going to take more than one night.'” (Charlie Brown).
I made an error in my wheel bug report by using the broad-brush words, "an uninformed news media" in pinning blame for the kissing bug hysteria we experienced last fall. I should have written, "some uninformed news media outlets" rather than implying all news media was guilty.
In fact, the vast majority of professional journalists working in the news media did not bite on the bad bug reporting. Some even used their columns to right the wrongs. However, I was guilty of writing a wrong in my wheel bug report.
"An error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it" (Orlando A. Battista).
