While some areas of the state have received their first snowfall of the season, others haven't had that joy - at least not yet.  This time of the year is a great time to expand your knowledge and learn the latest and the greatest; all in preparation for the 2017 season.

If someone asks for a perennial recommendation for shade, do you answer with those perennial staples and long-time favorites?  Do you want learning more about perennials for shade beyond the basics?  Which plants can you tuck in the shade and it is there that they make a statement in the landscape?  Which plants are adaptable to shade?  Are there more shade perennials that can be added to your palette to choose from?

Dr. Steven Still, OSU Emeritus and author of the Manual of Herbaceous Ornamental Plants will be speaking at the 2016 OSU Green Industry Short Course in Columbus on Thursday, December 8 at 10:00 am.  Dr. Still will be sharing his knowledge and expertise when it comes to plants that will shine in the shade.

Perennials for the Shade is just one of the concurrent sessions that will be held at this year's 2016 OSU Green Industry Short Course at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in collaboration with the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation Conference and Tradeshow.  The event kicks off on Monday, December 5 with several preconference workshops, followed by three days of programming and a tradeshow.  If you are interested in learning more about perennials and a host of other horticultural topics - check out the event website at http://www.otfshow.org/home/  An event schedule can also be browsed to learn where credits can be earned if you hold a pesticide license, you are a certified arborist, an Ohio Certified Nursery Technician, or landscape architect.

The early registration deadline is this Friday, November 25th.  Don't delay if you want to save money on your registration.
